Provide
instruction using active learning techniques, engaging students, and using
assessments to measure learning.
Meet weekly with
up to 15 students for one-half hour each to help students meet their academic
goals and navigate college-life challenges.
Train and
supervise Peer Academic Coaches who meet weekly with students about academic
goals and college-life challenges.
Meet weekly with
other SLI Instructors and the Director of Student Achievement to assess course
and student success and to cooperate with necessary course changes.
Maintain focus on
student persistence, academic standing, and college graduation rates.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Directly supervise multiple student employees
working as Peer Academic Coaches. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in
accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training student employees;
planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and
disciplining student employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills):
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read,
analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial
reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or
complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business
community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform
to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to
top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add,
subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Master’s degree required;
a degree in curriculum and instruction, instructional design, organization
leadership, counseling, or educational psychology preferred.
Three (3) years of teaching experience in a college setting
preferred. Experience in an academic success setting (i.e., academic learning
center, tutoring center, onboarding center, or supplemental instruction
program) can be substituted for teaching experience at a college or university.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This
position is a Full-Time, Exempt Level Faculty Position with a teaching load at
the Hardin-Simmons University campus. Additional travel may be required for
student evaluation/sponsorship and/or professional development.
A minimum of a 40-hour work
week is expected. Irregular hours and evening and weekend work and/or
assignments beyond a 40-hour work week will sometimes be required to meet
project deadlines.
Must
have and maintain a valid Class C Driver’s License and maintain a clear driving
record to be insurable under the university liability policy.
Must
be able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
Travel may be required on
occasion to attend training workshops.
