SUMMARY/SCOPE:
The Cynthia Ann Parker College
of Liberal Arts (CAPCoLA) at Hardin-Simmons University invites applications for
a full-time, 12-month, non-tenure track position at the level of Associate
Professor or Professor. The person hired for this position will serve as the
Director of Ministry and Guidance. This person in this role will also step into
the role of Associate Dean of the Logsdon School of Theology in June 2024, with
responsibility for oversight of the academic programs and processes within the
School. He/She will report directly to the CAPCoLA Dean. The successful
candidate will have a doctoral degree from an ATS-accredited seminary or school
of theology and have extensive involvement in the Baptist tradition. The person
in this position will be expected to teach 18 credit hours (i.e., six, 3-credit courses)
each year and serve as a mentor for Logsdon faculty. He/She will
meet with Baptist pastors in Abilene and surrounding communities to discuss
their needs and the development of partnerships related to providing
internships for HSU students in their churches. He/She will be expected to work
with pastors in Abilene and the surrounding communities to foster a
relationship that will allow integration of local churches into the planning of
events for Logsdon and HSU chapel. He/She will work with Logsdon faculty to
develop a curriculum to equip students for ministry in the twenty-first century
and to prepare them for advanced study in seminaries and graduate schools. Importantly, he/she will be expected to develop
and map out a vision for the 5, 10, and 20-year growth and development of
curriculum and programming for students, faculty, and staff in Logsdon.

agencies for students who have expressed a call to serve in Christian
vocational ministry

Award scholarships to students
associated with the Logsdon School of Theology
Consult regarding transfer
credits, possible course equivalency, and the approval or rejection of
proposals by students to take courses outside of HSU
Represent Logsdon on HSU
committees
Coordinate assessment of
Logsdon programs
Coordinate and facilitate
speakers and workshops associated with the academic goals of Logsdon
Communicate and facilitate
relationships with the Baptist General Convention of Texas (BGCT) and other
entities that support Logsdon students and faculty
Supervise full-time faculty
members associated with Logsdon, including the coordination of feedback
associated with HSU’s Comprehensive Faculty Evaluation (CFE) process
Facilitate the recruitment and
hiring of full-time faculty members associated with Logsdon
Recruit, hire, and supervise
adjunct and part-time instructors teaching classes for Logsdon
Provide consultation regarding
utilization and maintenance of facilities in the Logsdon Building
Maintain records associated
with the Logsdon School of Theology
Coordinate purchasing of
necessary equipment and office supplies for Logsdon faculty and staff
Be responsible for other
duties as assigned by the CAPCoLA Dean.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree from an
ATS-accredited seminary or school of theology, extensive involvement in the
Baptist tradition, and a minimum of five years’ experience teaching at the
university level.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position is a Full-Time,
Exempt Level Faculty Position with a teaching load at the Hardin-Simmons
University campus. Additional travel may be required for student
evaluation/sponsorship and/or professional development. Must be willing to
relocate to Abilene, Texas, or the surrounding area to teach in-person classes
on the HSU Campus.
Must
have and maintain a valid Class C Driver’s License and maintain a clear driving
record to be insurable under the university liability policy.
Must
be able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
Infrequent
travel may be required on occasion to attend training, etc.
