Provide exemplary teaching of
theatre classes, including classes associated with acting, history, design, and
technical aspects of theatre. Normal teaching load will include four courses in
each of the fall and spring semesters, with regular office hours.
Direct at least one show per
year. Ability to serve as music director is an advantage.
Supervise and assist with
performances as well as visual and design aspects of stage productions.
Advise current and prospective
Theatre students.
Collaborate effectively with
faculty, staff, administrators, and members of the community.
Participate in recruitment
activities for the Theatre program as well as the university.
Provide service to the university
through involvement in committees as well as university activities (e.g.,
commencement).
Engage in ongoing scholarly work
as well as professional development.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
This
faculty member may supervise the Assistant Theater Technical Director; may
supervise student workers in the scene shop.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills):
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety
rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
A completed master’s degree and at least 18 completed
graduate hours in Theatre is required. Either a Master of Fine Arts (MFA)
degree or a doctoral degree in the field of Theater is preferred.
Additionally, a
minimum of five (5) years of teaching experience, five (5) years of
professional experience as director, designer, or technical director, or
combination of these two is preferred.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position
is a Full-Time Exempt Level Faculty position with a teaching load at the
Hardin-Simmons University campus.
In addition to
teaching, this position often requires extensive evening and/or week-end work
in order to meet theater production deadlines and/or attend fine arts
productions and/or various campus events.
Ability to
travel for recruiting or training is desired.
Must have and
maintain a valid Class C Driver’s License and maintain a clear driving record
to be insurable under the university liability policy.
Must be able to
drive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
