POSITION:  Adjunct Faculty - Communication Instructor

COLLEGE/DEPARTMENT:  Cynthia Ann Parker College of Liberal Arts/Communication Department

SUPERVISOR TITLE:  Department Head: Communication; Associate Professor of Communication


EXEMPTION:  Teacher Exemption

LOCATION:  Abilene

We are looking for part-time, adjunct faculty members to teach a lower and upper division communication courses, including Speech Communication classes (a General Education course requirement at HSU). Providing face-to-face instruction is preferred but providing online instruction may be possible.


Teach undergraduate courses in Communication.

Demonstrate effective teaching strategies by planning and implementing a variety of teaching methods as well as assessment.

Maintain accurate records and documents, submit timely reports, and be responsive to students.

Records/documents include but are not limited to syllabi and grades.

Master’s Degree + 18 graduate hours in communication or equivalent field is required. A doctoral degree in Communication is preferred. Teaching experience is preferred.

The job is sedentary in nature. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time while performing office and computer operations.)


This position is a part-time/temp adjunct position (no more than 29 hours per week) that involves teaching in-person classes on campus at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.

Must be a resident of the state of Texas
