SUMMARY/SCOPE: This is a part-time adjunct faculty position. This posting may not be an active current opening. All applications will be included in the adjunct applicant pool and remain on file and may be contacted as openings arise.
This Part-time adjunct instructor will be responsible for physical activity courses as needed.The successful candidate will be responsible for leading safe, effective and enjoyable classes for the School of Kinesiology, Health & Recreation including but not limited to: Aerobics, Aquacise, Walking, Jogging, Yoga, Racquetball, Wellness for Life, Tennis, and Strength & Flexibility.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
The successful candidate will conduct safe, effective and enjoyable physical activity courses, respond to students' emails and voice mails in a timely fashion; perform accurate assessments of student performance. Maintain professional competencies/certifications in the subject area. Effective planning, organizing, communication, and interpersonal skills including use of tact and discretion and the ability to meet deadlines is of utmost importance.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree; master's degree preferred, effective communication and interpersonal skills; sensitivity to academic and cultural diversity. Preferred qualifications include prior undergraduate teaching.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Current CPR/First Aid/AED certification required. (Cannot be fully online course certification)
Professional certifications preferred, may include: Lifeguard Instructor, Water Safety Instructor, ACE GFI, CSCS, PES, SCCC, RYT 200 or others to be determined based on course requirements.
The employee is regularly required to stand; move throughout the room and/or facility; communicate verbally and electronically; reach/lift with hands and arms; kneel, stoop, crouch, and/or crawl; and climb or balance. Regularly required to lift or exert force of up to 25 pounds.
Potential to exposure to bacteria, chemicals and contagious diseases. May be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
This position is a part-time/temp adjunct position (no more than 29 hours per week) with teaching load at the Hardin-Simmons University campus.
Must be a resident of the state of Texas
