SUMMARY/SCOPE:
International Student Services Coordinator and Student
Ministry Liaison for Africa for Post-Secondary Educational Institution.
Will coordinate student services, Christian ministry &
outreach activities for the university’s global engagement programs globally,
especially in Africa, and locally in Abilene, TX.
HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Promote, coordinate & mobilize international student
recruitment from Africa & other countries. Develop & execute strategic
plan for the university to engage the continent of Africa in relation to its
Christian mission & ministry of faith-based higher education.
Counsel & minister students, faculty/staff, alumni,
partners & friends who participate in the international mission trips,
service-abroad trips, events, & other global engagement programs developed
by HSU.
Assist new international students as they arrive &
begin their studies at HSU.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
There are no supervisor responsibilities, except for
student workers.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Require accredited bachelor’s degree of Divinity, Christian
religious studies, theology, Biblical philosophy, Education, or other related
studies.
Requires degree programs must include course work in
pastoral counseling & ministry as it relates to Christian education &
spiritual formation.
At least 36
months experience in conducting & leading Christian ministries,
missionaries, & church activities including assisting church staff members,
counseling families & children to promote Christian education.
Ability to proficiently speak in English. Demonstrable
knowledge of the culture, religions, customs of the populations in Africa.

pounds.
The job is active in nature in that the position requires
giving frequent tours of the campus to prospective students and their families
and/or other campus visitors.
This job also requires the ability to sit or stand for long
periods while performing office and phone/computer operations and/or while
driving due to extensive travel.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is a Non-Exempt, Full Time Position. A minimum of a 40-hour work week is expected;
weekly schedule may vary each week; Candidate must be able to work
non-traditional hours, including nights and weekends depending on the time of
year.
Little international and
domestic intermittent travel required, including evenings & weekends,
especially as part of travel, but less than 16 weeks/yr.
Provide criminal
background to verify the person has no arrest or convictions for crimes.
Must profess in writing
Christian faith, maintain membership in a local congregation, & respect the
values & distinctives central to the historically Baptist values of HSU as
reflected in the University’s Statement of Faith.
Must have and maintain a
valid Class C Driver’s License and maintain a clear driving record to be
insurable under the university liability policy.
Must be able to drive to complete work assignments on and
off campus, as needed.
