SUMMARY/SCOPE:

The Vice President for Accreditation develops, coordinates, and implements a broad range of high-level projects aligned with institutional accreditation, program accreditation, institutional goals, and strategic planning. The position reports to the President and serves as a member of the President's Cabinet.

HSU JOB FAMILY CLASSIFICATION INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: These examples do not include all possible tasks & do not limit the assignment of related tasks.

The Vice President for Accreditation will oversee the following functional areas in collaboration with the President:

Accreditation leadership, coordination and advising on SACSCOC (40%) -
Serves as Institutional Accreditation Liaison for SACSCOC.
Recommends development and modification of University-wide policies and procedures as they pertain to SACSCOC Principles of Accreditation, policies, and guidelines.
Leads the Universities comprehensive SACSCOC reaffirmation efforts and help prepare for off-site and on-site accreditation visits.
Provides University-wide support for the development and institutionalization of the Quality Enhancement Plan.
Coordinates periodic SACSCOC reports, including the Annual Profile, Fifth Year Interim Report, and any other reports required by the Commission.
Oversees the management of the University’s Substantive Change procedures and develops mechanisms for the reporting of Substantive Change.

Committee Work (20%) -
Chairs Assessment of Learning Outcomes Committee and works with program directors and coordinators to report data appropriately.
Participates in the Administrative Council, the Deans Council, the Academic Committee, the Graduate Council, and the General Education Committee.

Strategic Plan Oversight (20%) -
Works with other vice presidents to maintain strategic plan data and present quarterly reports to the cabinet.

Coordinates Accreditation Calendar and Assistance with Specialized Accreditation (20%) -
Collaborates with deans and schools seeking specialized program accreditation and coordinates alignment with SACSCOC processes.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning and Computer Skills):

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

COMPUTER SKILLS: Knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, project management software, order processing systems, internet software, and database, development, and contact management systems.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Required Qualifications:

Earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution.

Seven years combined accreditation experience and higher education leadership within an institution, or an accrediting agency.

Management and cross-functional collaboration experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Juris Doctor from an accredited institution with graduate coursework in statistics.

Experience on SACSCOC off-site or on-site committees.

Knowledge of SACSCOC Principles of Accreditation and experience engaging with Commission staff.

Knowledge of the campus community, its processes, procedures, and internal and external constituencies.

Skills in oral and written communication.

Knowledge of academic program development, design, implementation, and assessment.

Knowledge of faculty credentialing policies and practices.

Knowledge of computers and job-related software programs.

Knowledge of cooperative arrangements (e.g., MOU's).

Skill in interacting with interdisciplinary teams for needs assessment, program development, and program implementation.

Skill in managing budgets and maintaining fiscal controls.

Skill in identifying and resolving problems.

Skill in decision making and problem solving.

Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This position is an Exempt/Salaried Full-Time Staff position.

A minimum of a 40-hour work week is expected. Irregular hours and evening and weekend work and/or assignments beyond a 40-hour week is required during peak season(s) and/or to meet project deadlines when applicable.

Additional travel may be required on occasion to attend training workshops.

Must have and maintain a valid Class C Driver’s License and maintain a clear driving record to be insurable under the university liability policy.

Must be able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
