Work
collaboratively as part of the Academic Advising Center to provide academic
support services to students.
Provide
academic advising, guidance, and help to our new students as they choose and
enroll in appropriate courses.
Learn and stay
up to date on requirements of academic programs, including related programs,
program tracks, and degrees offered.
Communicate
program requirements to students.
Meet with
students individually before registration in person, by phone, and by email or
text.
Collaborate
with university faculty and staff to address challenges, offer solutions, and
help students to connect with their chosen academic programs.
Perform
administrative functions that include contact management documentation, file
maintenance, and reporting.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and
interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and
correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or
employees of an organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply,
and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Required:
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field. Two years of
experience in academic advising, counseling, teaching, or student support.
Preferred:
Master's Degree in Higher Education, Counseling, or
a related discipline. Four or more years’ experience with higher education policies, procedures, and academic
systems.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This is a Non-Exempt/Hourly, Full Time Staff
Position. A
regular 40-hour work week is required (plus occasional overtime on evenings
and/or weekends).
Occasional evenings and/or Saturdays may be required for attendance at
various special events on campus (Campus Connect, etc.)
All hours worked beyond 40 hours in a single work week will
be compensated at time and a half, per FLSA guidelines.
Must have and maintain a valid Class C Driver’s
License and maintain a clear driving record to be insurable under the
university liability policy.
Must
be able to drive to complete work assignments on and off campus, as needed.
Infrequent
travel may be required on occasion in order to attend training, etc.
