SUMMARY/SCOPE:
The Media Services Production Assistant plays a key role
in the visual media and technical media aspect of the Media Services Team. They
will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day operation of athletic,
campus, live streaming, photo, video, and other HSU production needs. Based on assignment and direction from the Director of
Media Services and staff, the Media Services Production Assistant will help in
project planning, organizing, setup, and execution of Media Services projects
and productions. Participates in and assists: the work of media services
functional projects; identifies and resolves problems; monitors workflow;
reviews and assists with work products, methods and procedures in HSU Media
Services that reinforce the mission, vision, and values of
Hardin-Simmons University.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Processing and editing photos/videos as needed for final use.
On-site A/V event support.
Complete projects in accordance with deadlines.
Produce excellent live theatrical and athletic events.
Covering all aspects of each assigned event, to ensure the experience of the event is captured through broadcast, photo and video.
Upload photos to shared server/file location where Media Services staff have access to photos.
Frequency of uploads to be determined on case-by-case basis.
Meet regularly with Media Services staff to review upcoming events, required assignments and projects.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Strong
interpersonal, communication, and problem solution skills.
Enthusiastic attitude and
willingness to learn and retain information.
Ability to work
independently with little supervision.
Availability in evenings and
on weekends for events.
Experience in the
following is encouraged but not required:
Photography/videography skills
Photo/video editing
Live event production and
team leadership experience.
Exceptionally organized
and detail-oriented advanced coordinating skills.
Beginner/intermediate
knowledge of broadcast skills and equipment.
Suggested GPA of 3.0 or
higher.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
This job is active in nature.
Will frequently stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers and arms.
Will be frequently required to lift up to 10 pounds, regularly be required to lift up to 25 pounds, and occasionally be required to lift up to 50 pounds.
Will regularly stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Will occasionally climb or balance.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Open office.
Working inside and outside for events
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Student production assistants will report to the Coordinator of Media Services and Visual Media Coordinator.
Student workers do not supervise any other employees.
Student production assistants will encounter diverse student groups, general public, Hardin-Simmons faculty/staff and other departments on campus.
A condition of employment
is that student production assistants are expected to assist in key events
throughout the year. Student employees are expected to portray a positive
image, both internally and externally of Hardin-Simmons University by
displaying high standards of service, integrity, punctuality, politeness and
professionalism.
