SUMMARY/SCOPE:

The Doctor of Physical Therapy program at HSU invites qualified individuals to apply for the Adjunct Instructor pool.  This is a face-to-face DPT program and program needs vary by semester.  

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Currently, this adjunct teaching position will include, but is not limited to the following courses:

PHYT 7302 Clinical Anatomy II- laboratory assistant

PHYT 7307 Neuroscience I- laboratory assistant

QUALIFICATIONS:  To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

A DPT degree is required; however, DPT with terminal degree is preferred (Ph.D., Sc.D., Ed.D.)

Candidates with a bachelors or master’s degree with a terminal degree (Ph.D., Sc.D., Ed.D.) will also be considered

ABPTS or other specialty certification preferred

Previous teaching or guest lecture experience in a physical therapy program preferred

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Licensure or eligibility for licensure as a PT in the state of Texas

A specialty certification is preferred

Current CPR certification for all ages is required

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires standing/sitting for lectures, stooping, squatting, kneeling, getting up and down from the floor and lifting (up to 50 lbs.) frequently.

The job is sedentary in nature. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time while performing office and computer operations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Indoor state-of-the-art classroom teaching environment with 40 students/class

Human cadaver gross anatomy laboratory teaching with 40 students/class

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

This position is a part-time/temp adjunct position (no more than 29 hours per week) that involves teaching in-person classes on campus at Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas.

Must be a resident of the state of Texas.

This position is an adjunct position (no more than 6 credit hours per semester). There is an immediate need for an adjunct in the Spring 2023 semester, but other opportunities in future semesters may arise. The Hardin-Simmons University Department of Physical Therapy Building is located at 1325 Pine Street.
