Maintain current knowledge of
prevailing literature and standards in nursing.
Inform the Dean/Program Chair
of interested faculty and potential clinical affiliations to prepare for
contingencies in faculty appointments and clinical agency experiences.
Follow the organizational chain
of command for reporting problems in the School of Nursing.
Participate, as needed, in
providing solutions for problems in the School of Nursing.
Utilize aggregate data from the
evaluation of curriculum, faculty and student evaluation of teaching-learning
practices to inform decisions that facilitate the achievement of student
outcomes to foster program improvement.
Respond appropriately to an
annual evaluation conference with the Program Chair.
Engage in appropriate and
required faculty development activities that foster achievement of program
outcomes.
Maintain a professional
affiliation with community partners and other agencies.
Participate in external and
internal recruitment activities for the school of nursing.
Maintain accurate records and
documents and submit timely reports. Records/documents include but are not
limited to syllabi, grades, and office hours.
Submit all course grade books
to the Dean’s office at the end of each semester.
Devote primary efforts to
carrying out contractual responsibilities, as faculty, except during vacation
periods and/or excused periods under the terms of your contract.
Schedule, announce, post, and
maintain sufficient office hours to allow students time for formal and informal
contact that may include but is not limited to advising, mentoring and
remediation.
Acquire and demonstrate
proficiency in test and curriculum development, item analysis, utilizing
blueprints and curriculum mapping.
Maintain an up-to-date test
bank utilizing the TXBON recommendations for alternate formats.
Strive to ensure the highest
level of faculty and student morale within the school and maintain harmonious,
professional, collegial and productive working relationships among colleagues,
both within the school and the consortium institutions at large.
Fulfill all classroom and
clinical duties essential to the role of faculty, as assigned, by the
Dean/Program Chair.
Attend faculty meetings and
participate in the process of faculty governance within the school of nursing
and consortium institutions.
Participate in curriculum and program
development.
Utilize evidenced based
practice and best practices in the teaching-learning process.
Be familiar with the
accreditation requirements of the Texas Board of Nursing (TXBON rule 215.7 (c),
Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and the Southern Association
of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Participate in the preparation
for and meetings of the Accreditation and Board visits.
Know and uphold the policies in
the Undergraduate/Graduate Catalogs, Nursing Student Handbook, and faculty
handbook.
Function within the parameters
of conventions, conferences, and constituencies of the consortium institution
members.
Participate in the advising,
mentoring and remediation of students.
Make recommendations regarding
equipment, computer labs, technology, software and supplies.
Develop, disseminate, and
update syllabus according to program requirements.
Performs other duties
as assigned.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
The faculty must meet the
minimum requirements for employment in the baccalaureate in nursing program as
required by the Texas Board of Nursing (TXBON) [rule 215.7
(c)]; Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), and the Southern
Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Hold a current license or
privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.
Show evidence of teaching
abilities and maintaining current knowledge, clinical expertise, and safety in
the subject areas of teaching responsibility.
Hold a master’s degree in
nursing; doctoral degree preferred. The exception to this would for the
Introduction to Professional Nursing course where the faculty does not need to
hold a degree in nursing.
Have experience in nursing
education.
The faculty will also be
expected to exhibit a high level of commitment to the Christian faith
consistent with the mission and heritage of the university.
Three (3) or more years of
clinical or teaching experience in nursing preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
Hold a current license or
privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The job is
sedentary in nature. Must be able to sit for long periods while performing
office and computer operations. Must be able to stand and walk during teaching
and clinical site visits. Must be able to make frequent trips across campus to
various buildings and offices.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
This position is a part-time/temporary adjunct position (no more than 29 hours per week) with teaching load at the Hardin-Simmons University campus.
Must be a resident of the state of Texas.
