SUMMARY/SCOPE: Adjunct Faculty in the Doctor of Medical Science (DMSc) program will coordinate and teach an online, 3-hour course on a variety of topics that will be assigned prior to the start of the course. Instruction will be continuous for three semesters per academic year.  Duties include creating and delivering educational content, departmental grading, and remediation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Responsibilities include course development, instruction, management, creating and grading student assignments in a timely manner, and all correspondence with students enrolled in the course using course management software.  Other duties as assigned by the DMSc program director.

Demonstrate a high level of engagement with students through responses to emails and delivering feedback to students through communication about assignments, discussion boards, interactive instructional tools, recorded videos, and virtual office hours.

Maintain accurate records and documents, including syllabi, learning objectives, grading rubrics, grades, faculty course evaluation as requested, and virtual office hours. 

Completion of required training for online adjunct faculty, timely communication with administration and students, and attending DMSc departmental meetings virtually as requested.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

Physician Assistant applicants holding a Master of Physician Assistant Studies and Doctoral Degree (DHSc, DMSc, Ph.D., etc.) are preferred.  Clinicians with a doctoral-level degree will be considered.  Candidates with previous online teaching, classroom teaching, and/or guest lecture/precepting experience as a PA are preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Current NCCPA certification is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The job is sedentary in nature. Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time while performing office and computer operations.

This position is a part-time/temp adjunct position (no more than 29 hours per week) with online teaching load at the Hardin-Simmons University campus.

Must be a resident of the state of Texas
